Play Pretzels

We rolled out little snakes of dough this morning and baked them into fun shapes. I packed them with a small container of peanut butter for dipping, kiwi and star fruit, baby carrots, and roasted chickpeas. Beverage: chocolate Silk.
Verdict: This was our first time trying star fruit; we agreed it was fun to look at but not too exciting to eat. Everything else was eaten and enjoyed. "I ate a lot!" he said. 4 stars.

what *are* those star fruits anyway? look interesting, yes. were they not very tasty?

They're an exotic fruit also called carambola. When you slice them they look like stars! That was fun, but the flavor was tart and watery; we didn't like it much.

Hi there. I just found your website because I am a nanny and the mom is letting me cook vegan for her kids (I'm vegan, they're not). Upon looking for advice from the livejournal vegan community, I was sent your way. I think that what you do is amazing and I have sent your site to other moms that I think would love to have a look at it. Keep up the great work. You are inspiring!

Can you give a recipe for the roasted chickpeas? My nephew is vegan and loves chickpeas. I am so envious of your creativity! thanks for sharing.

Can I just say - I love you! I'm not vegan and not even vegetarian, but I am trying to increase the number of vegetarian meals I eat - You know small steps first. then we will see where it goes.

Your lunches are amazing and inspiring and make me think I could do this.

I second the other posters who have said you should do a cookbook. I would buy it.

The pretzels are an awesome idea.. I bake bread for veggie pigs in the blanket a lot. It'd be cool to bake bread for a different kind of lunch.

Wow, thanks, scoutmama! I'm glad you are finding the ideas inspiring. You can do it!! Every step is a step in the right direction. :-)

I haven't had starfruit in a long time but used to enjoy it. Might have to locate it here soon! Thanks for the reminder!
