If you looked at thereusable sammy baggies in my recent post and thought, "Hey, I could do that!", you'll want to check out these instructions on How To Make a Reusable Sandwich Wrap.
According to the website, these "fun, functional sandwich wraps give you a reusable alternative to plastic baggies, plus they are a snap to make. After each use, they can be wiped clean with a damp cloth or tossed in with the rest of the laundry."
I don't know about a snap (I routinely sew my sleeves together trying to make a napkin), but they sure are cute!

You'll have to follow the link and read the pattern for all the details. It looks like they use velcro. :-)

OK, unrelated, but I haven't been to the blog in a while and looking through the archives, I saw that you use Yumm Sauce. I used to live in Eugene and miss Cafe Yumm, so I found a recipe for the sauce online (http://www.recipezaar.com/Yummy-Sauce-297251), but it's not quite right. Wondered if you'd ever tried to make your own and if so, if you'd share the recipe.
Yes, I've tried that same recipe! You're right, I think it's totally missing something and I can't put my finger on it. I've also messed around with making a kind of yumm sauce with no oil, also with no success.
If I do come up with a good one I'll share it here. In the meantime, I'm lucky enough to have family living in Eugene. :-) Let me know if you figure it out!

Snaps are really easy to put on. All you really need is a snap setter (a little plastic thingy) and a hammer. Now that's my kind of sewing =)

Not to plug out products, but we sell a Wrap-n-Mat that is great for sandwiches also and washes easily. I love how many options people are bringing to others' attention instead of plastic baggies! Good Post...

I just made the sandwich wraps last night! I made 6 for a cost of about 18$, gave four away as gifts to friends who will now think I'm insane, and kept two for us.
I used an iron on, food safe vinyl (at least, the store assured me it is food safe!), and cute cottons.
The full project took about 4 hours of making the pattern, ironing and sewing, but we won't count the time I spent realizing I had run out of an ingredient and running back to the store swearing. It was very easy- an experienced sewer could probably do it in 3 hours.
I love your blog. I have two blogs. I am not vegan, but try to be a few times a week. I tried to go cold turkey but craved it more. I don't eat much beef, a bit of chicken but mostly I eat fish. shame on me, I know..I try.
