Sushi

Here's my Little Shmoo's very first lunch on his very first day of 1st grade. Per his request: vegan sushi rice wrapped in nori, a small container of soy sauce, edamame (baby soybeans), and organic grapes. I snuck in some Botan Rice Candy for a treat. Beverage (not pictured): raspberry "Silk Alive" soy yogurt drink.
Verdict: didn't have time to finish all the edamame, but ate them as a snack after school. 4 stars.

Your kid eats better lunches than I do! Keep posting those pics...you're giving me some really great ideas. Thanks!

Your posts inspired me to buy a tupperware divided container and abandon my ziploc bags. Keep up the good work!

Oh, oh! My mom used to buy us Botan Rice Candy sometimes for a treat on the way home from the grocery store!

(My memory of them is better than the reality when I bought some for my own girls. But still, that rice paper melting on your tongue is so cool... And it comes with a prize!)

I love this lunch box. I'll have to get my son one when he's older. Right now he has a container that has three compartments, but it only has one lid and they are not removable. My husband would love this lunch. What a great idea.

you recipes are quite good but are you sure you child isnt eating too much? though all is healthy, you meals are big for a child in jk-grade1.

Love your site! I was wondering where you got that lunch box. I also wanted to thank you for posting these great foods. I have a 5 year son who was recently diagnosed as Autistic. I've been steadily changing his diet since his doc showed me reports on the effects of food on the brain.

I realize you posted this quite some time ago, but I was browsing through your blog today and realized that I sent more or less this exact same lunch with my teenager for her 1st day of high school today (she had cucumber rolls instead of place rice rolls)! Good to know it works for all ages.
