Pita with Hummus

Half a whole wheat pita bread filled with hummus and cut in quarters. Alongside are a cute cucumber chain (I got this idea from the Laptop Lunch User's Guide that came with our lunch box), lemon soy yogurt, and organic red grapes. In the tiniest container are four little Sharkies for a surprise treat.
Verdict: This lunch was easy and a big success -- everything eaten but an edge of pita bread and a couple cucumber slices (the chain folded up nicely into the container after I took the picture, in case you were wondering). 5 stars.

How in the world did you make a chain of cucumber rings? :shaking head: I can't even figure out how you started it! Or are they seperate?

Thanks for the link, I will look out for somethign similar in australia.

Does each little section have a lid(it looks like only some do)? and if not does the top get all messy or do they mix with the others?

Also another question I have been meaning to ask is do you make them every morning, or the night before?

Keep up the goodwork!

I got a tip on your blog from my WW message board and I must say I'm so happy I found you. I LOVE your ideas. Just the thing my little ladies and I have been needing. Anxiously awaiting your cookbook to come out.

Hi, siel! Yep, we love us some homemade hummus. But storebought can be tasty, too.

Hi, kristy! You're right, only one large container and the tiniest container have lids. The outer shell shuts down snug and keeps everything in place; it's not messy. For liquidy things that don't fit in the lidded containers I cover the containers with plastic wrap and a rubber band.

And hi, lucy! Thanks for linking to my blog. What a great site for vegan kids!

Cucumber chain: You peel and slice the cucumber, then cut out the core of seeds, then slide each one neatly on one side so that they can be separated and attached together like a regular metal chain. Just do it gently so they bend instead of snapping!
